Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community health, possess strong clinical and administrative skills, and be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. As a Medical Assistant at our clinic, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Greet patients and prepare them for examinations or procedures.
- Measure and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with patient exams and procedures.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Perform basic lab tests and prepare specimens for further analysis.
- Provide patient education and support on health maintenance and disease prevention.
Administrative Tasks:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
- Handle patient intake, including collecting and verifying patient information.
- Process insurance claims and handle patient billing inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records.
- Manage and order medical supplies and equipment as needed.
Clinic Operations:
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Follow infection control protocols and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Coordinate with other healthcare providers and support staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with data entry and reporting for quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant training program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and office software, preferably with ECW.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
