Position Summary
Join our culinary crew and become a Food Service Specialist! If you love interacting with people and have a passion for providing excellent service, this dynamic role is perfect for you. You'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our food service department, from serving up delicious meals to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service: Welcome customers as they enter the café with a friendly and professional demeanor. Provide friendly and professional service to all customers, ensuring their needs are met in a timely and efficient manner, addressing any complaints or issues promptly and effectively. Follow all Dining Services Standards of service. Accurately take customer orders for food and beverages, ensuring any special requests or dietary needs are noted.
Communication Skills: This position requires excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information to individuals and small groups, such as guests, and colleagues.
Food Preparation and Service: Assist with food preparation, plating, and service, adhering to established policies and procedures.
Inventory Management: Ensure accurate receiving, stocking, and replenishment of inventory.
Safety and Sanitation: Follow safe food handling practices, maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, and dispose of waste properly.
Operation Management: Process customer payments, handle cash transactions, and provide change as needed. This role demands strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex documents and information on computer screens.
Equipment Maintenance: Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisors in a timely manner. Perform all side work, setup and breakdown duties as assigned.
Teamwork: Be punctual and collaborate effectively with other team members to ensure smooth operations and achieve common goals.
Qualifications:
• Strong customer service skills
• Accuracy in taking orders and handling transactions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to retain information and follow multi-step instructions
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, especially during busy periods
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Positive and professional attitude
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary food service licenses and/or certifications
• Health Card needed
• Prior restaurant experience is preferred but not required
• This role demands strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex documents
